The human touch in Valparaiso

The Human Touch in the Elderly, "El Toque Humano en el Adulto Mayor", Seminars and workshops that aim to train those serving the elderly, seek to meet their diverse social needs and raise awareness of the abuse and mistreatment that occurs. The mission is to train and educate caretakers of on how to work on a more professional level..

The first Seminar & Workshop took place in Vina del Mar, on the 3rd and 4th  of June. The event was organized by Help for The Andes foundation with the collaboration of the following enttities: Senama Valparaiso, La caja de Andes, el Instituto del Envejecimiento, CDI Chile, Vamos que se puede, and Seremi de Salud, Valparaiso.

Highly recognized specialists and academics participated in the seminar/workshops, giving classes which were divided in 11 sessions with themes like: the development within the meaning of life; stimulation, staying active, exercises on loneliness, fear and abandonment, among others.

The Regional Semana Coordinator Ana Eugenia Garcia, pointed out the importance of this event regarding the need of training of the personnel in light of the projections which indicate that in 2025, half of the population of the Chile will be senior citizens, also highlighting how large the elderly community currently is in Valparaiso in comparison to other regions.
