HELP FOR THE ANDES FOUNDATION
ANNUAL ACTIVITY REPORT 2005

• January through December 2005 •

Following is a summary of the different activities the Foundation has undertaken throughout the year 2005 with the object of improving the quality of life of mankind through our humanitarian projects. For this purpose we have established direct contact with those who are suffering and approached those who are in a position to grant the help required. Thus, the Foundation bridges the gap between the needy and those who have the means to give.
  • Towards this end, in January 2005 we received two American volunteer workers who provided their help as English teachers in the Centro de Educación y Desarollo Integral El Trampolin, located in San Luis de Maipú. In addition to teaching English, they sacrificially carried out different activities with over 80 children who attend the center daily.
  • The Foundation has also frequently secured food donations to the Hogar de Abuelitas Santa Verónica, in Independencia, the Centro de Educación El Trampolín, as well as five Christian missionary centers in the city of Santiago.
  • Through our Educar con Valores (Value-based Education) program which promotes and seeks to instill the development of family and social values, the Foundation was able to set up a stand at Parque Arauco Mall, where different products and materials from the above-mentioned program were exhibited. This fund-raiser enabled us to donate educational books for 10,000 children from low income families.
  • Additionally, the Foundation helped cover medical expenses in both private and public clinics, of several volunteer missionaries who were involved in many Christmas presentations with the object of helping raise funds towards our Educar con Valores program.
  • Furthermore, a new center was opened in La Reina for the development of two of our programs―Educar con Valores and Human Touch―where training courses were taught all year round. Janet Muñoz―doctor in psychology―donated her services seeing patients on a regular basis.
  • The Foundation helped a number of needy families who live in extreme poverty on the Andean hillsides.
  • The Foundation invited four volunteer workers from Argentina, Venezuela and Colombia to a Public Relations training course focused on humanitarian projects.
  • In addition, the Foundation worked on a project with INTA, called ICENAF (Community Intervention in the Area of Nutrition and Physical Education at Daycare Centers) which benefited poverty-stricken children.
  • Moreover, during his visit to Chile in the month of November, Dr. Patch Adams gave a series of seminars to “The Joy of Caring" medicine students with the support of the Foundation.
  • Thanks to the Spanish company Es Futuro and Aurora Productions (from Switzerland), 600 educational CDs were donated to destitute Peruvian children.
  • Within the framework of "The Human Touch" program, Help For Andes Foundation set up and organized a worshop for 30 teenagers ages 13 through 18 years old. This 3-day workshop touched on issues associated with values and vocational training.
  • Also under "The Human Touch" program, a workshop called Puerta al Cambio (Door to Change) was led by Psychologist Janet Muñoz at the Foundation's headquarters. This workshop was aimed at 15 blind persons who received lectures on topics such as optimism, human relations, and overcoming, among others.
  • Some of the Foundation's volunteer workers supported the Celebración de la Vida event which was organized by "Santiago College," in Providencia. In addition, the Foundation participated in the Lions Club fund-raising effort in Providencia.
  • Together with volunteers of the Luce una Sonrisa (Wear a smile) program, the Foundation visited the Pedro Aguirre Cerda Medical School Rehabilitation Institute.
  • In light of the September festivities and celebrations, the Foundation provided 16 children of different nationalities with the opportunity to attend "cueca" dance classes led by education students from the Santo Tomás University.
  • In the month of October, the Foundation also made it possible for 12 volunteer workers of low income to enjoy the facilities of El Colorado ski resort.
  • The Foundation donated a significant amount of medical supplies to the Pedro Aguirra Cerda National Rehabilitation Institute in La Reina.
  • With the help of psychologist Janet Muñoz, the Foundation was able to assist patients with cases of chronic depression.
  • A 3-day seminar on humanitarian work was led by the Foundation's president and attended by 20 volunteers from Buenos Aires.
  • In this summary of activities, it is worth mentioning the Christmas Charol singing group "Ángeles de Belén" (Angels of Bethlehem), made up of children and teenagers from different nationalities, who at our Foundation’s behest, participated in the children's Christmas celebration at Mi Casa Foundation, conveying the season's message and giving out Christmas story booklets and tracts.

Likewise, "Ángeles de Belén" performed for 80 female senior citizens at Hogar Santa Verónica before giving away 100 books about the story of Christmas.
  • The Foundation contributed in the "Peruvian Child's Christmas" event organized by the Peruvian Consulate, through different christmas charol performances, as well as the donation of educational tools.

Furthermore, with the purpose of supporting the Medical Center for Peruvian Immigrants, sponsored by the Peruvian Consulate, the Foundation donated medical supplies to the latter as well to the Santiago chapter of the Chilean Red Cross.
  • Headed by Mrs. Sally García, volunteers of the Luce una Sonrisa program organized a Christmas party for handicapped children at the Pedro Aguirre Cerda National Rehabilitation Institute in La Reina. On the occasion, presents were distributed to each child as they enjoyed the season's celebration.
  • Finally, a new project was developed and set up for implementing a new ICU in the city of Punta Arenas. This unit is aimed at assisting those who suffer from heart ailments.
The activity review presented in this report aims at strengthening our resolve and the work we expect to undertake in the year 2006, thus increasing our motivation to fulfill the charter governing the Foundation. Towards this end, we are happy to be able to count on the invaluable assistance of people and companies who have generously supported our cause. To all of them, our most sincere and heartfelt thanks.
